Elle & Vire is committed to using ISCC-certified 100% recycled plastic caps for all cartons produced in Condé-sur-Vire. Our packaging supplier, Tetra Pak, now uses certified recycled plastic, in accordance with the mass balance approach, for manufacturing our carton caps. This initiative allows us to save...
377 tons of fossil-based plastic per year.

What is ISCC ?

ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) is a globally applicable system of sustainability certification that covers all sustainable raw materials. It is one of the largest certification systems in the world. ISCC standards promote the use of biogenic wastes and residues and non-biological renewables for new applications through a credible and transparent approach to certification. By using recycled materials, companies can accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

How does the mass balance approach work ?

During the production of the plastic used for our caps, fossil-based and recycled plastics are combined randomly to create hybrid plastic. This hybrid plastic is then used by Tetra Pak to manufacture our caps. Thus, Elle & Vire invests in the supply of plastic equivalent to 100% of the caps’ weight. Having caps made entirely from certified recycled plastic means that 100% of the plastic waste generated by our caps is recycled at the beginning of the value chain. To date, there is no other means of sourcing recycled plastic, and each step in the value chain is certified in accordance with the ISCC chain of custody.
